How Wyoming Gets Its Gasoline
Wyoming is a significant oil producer, and unlike many producing states, a meaningful share of that crude is refined right at home. The small town of Sinclair, Wyoming — renamed after the Sinclair Oil refinery built there — still refines crude today, along with another refinery in Cheyenne and a smaller one in Newcastle. That local refining generally keeps supply steady, though Wyoming's vast, sparsely populated geography means long distances between towns.
Where Gas Is Cheapest and Most Expensive in Wyoming
Cheyenne and the southeastern corner of the state, closest to in-state refining, tend to see some of Wyoming's lowest prices. Remote areas in the northern and western parts of the state, hours from the nearest refinery or major terminal, typically run higher.
