About Gas Prices in Nevada

Nevada has a modest state tax with significant county add-ons. Nevada's state excise tax is about 23 cents per gallon, but counties add their own fuel taxes — and Clark County (Las Vegas) indexes its portion to inflation, pushing the combined government take there well above 50 cents per gallon. Where you buy in Nevada matters as much as the state rate.

How Nevada Gets Its Gasoline
Nevada has no refineries. Las Vegas is supplied almost entirely by pipeline from Southern California, and Reno from Northern California — so Nevada inherits California's refinery outages, blend costs, and price spikes without California's local supply. This is why Nevada consistently ranks among the more expensive states despite moderate state taxes.

Las Vegas and Reno both run well above the national average, typically 20–40 cents. Border-town stations catering to California drivers (Primm, Stateline) price just under California levels rather than at Nevada interior levels — real savings usually start deeper into the state.
