How Idaho Gets Its Gasoline
Idaho has no oil refineries of its own. The state is supplied by pipeline from two directions: refineries around Salt Lake City, Utah to the south, and refineries in Montana and Washington to the north. Which direction a given part of Idaho draws fuel from depends on geography — the mountainous terrain splits the state's supply routes more than most.
Where Gas Is Cheapest and Most Expensive in Idaho
Boise and southern Idaho track Salt Lake City-area wholesale prices fairly closely, while the northern Panhandle, around Coeur d'Alene, tends to move with Spokane, Washington prices instead. Rural mountain communities away from the interstate corridors generally pay a premium for delivery.
