Delaware has one of the lower state gas taxes in the nation. Delaware's state gas tax is about 23 cents per gallon, below the roughly 33.5-cent national average.

How Delaware Gets Its Gasoline
Despite its small size, Delaware hosts one of the larger refineries on the East Coast — PBF Energy's Delaware City refinery — which processes crude into gasoline and diesel for the Mid-Atlantic market. That in-state refining capacity is unusual for a state Delaware's size and helps insulate it from some of the supply swings that hit refinery-free neighbors.
Where Gas Is Cheapest and Most Expensive in Delaware
Prices are generally consistent statewide given Delaware's small size, with Wilmington and New Castle County — closest to the Delaware City refinery — sometimes seeing a modest edge over southern Sussex County.
