Alabama has a state gas tax just below the national average. Alabama's state gas tax is about 31 cents per gallon, close to the roughly 33.5-cent national average. The current rate phased in under the 2019 Rebuild Alabama Act, which raised fuel taxes in stages to fund a backlog of road and bridge projects.

How Alabama Gets Its Gasoline

Where Gas Is Cheapest and Most Expensive in Alabama
